Dublin Port Company Replaces CloudTrade with inSTREAM and achieves 90% Straight-Through-Processing

InSTREAM is an Intelligent Document Processing platform used by hundreds of companies globally, digitising and importing a wide variety of documents from invoices to insurance claims. InSTREAM pricing is scaleable, so it is attractive to both small companies and large, including major global corporations.

Dublin Port selected inSTREAM in September 2024 and were live running by early November, replacing CloudTrade, their previous invoice management system.

Darren Forsyth, Finance Manager, commented on the migration:

“With CloudTrade we had issues with currencies and problems with the more complex invoices. InSTREAM works really well and the processes are much more efficient as a result with some 90% of invoices passing straight to the finance system”.

Andy Makeham, InSTREAM MD takes up the story:

“Modern AI technology is incredible; it increasingly impacts every aspect of our lives. With InSTREAM we too are keen to embrace this technology wherever it will improve speed, agility and the ease of deployment of our solutions. But experience has taught us that a degree of caution is warranted. AI systems will occasionally, very occasionally, mis-read data and appear to hallucinate. Thus, we enthusiastically embrace the new technology with caution. InSteam has built in checks and balances to verify the data we are reading and extracting, and if the system is in any way unsure of the validity of a data item, it is rejected and sent to a human being (human-in-the-loop) for checking. As the data is checked, the system learns (machine learning), and so over time the percentage of documents that pass straight through, without manual intervention, increases”.

Dublin Port is owned 100% by the Irish Government and it is operated by the Dublin Port Company (DPC), which is a commercial semi-state body. It is one of a number of public sector organisations choosing to switch to InSTREAM. Other public sector customers include Somerset Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, South Yorkshire Alliance - a collaboration of six Trusts within the South Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS), Hartlepool Borough Council and Sheffield City Council.

Head of Finance, Marie Porter at Dublin Port Company said:

“I know from the team that they receive much better Support that previously. They feel that the reporting is much improved, and when you combine the InSTREAM with the power of the Integra Finance system it really is a very good solution”.

Dublin Port Company are regular winners at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2025, underscoring the strength and innovation of their finance organisation.
